Sugar doesnt dissolve in petrol its a myth. Varnish does though.

just buy unleaded petrol with additive leave to stand and it turns to varnish in your carb

Would the genny mount not have been better rubber mounted to isolate the vibrations?

The generator has been fitted with rubber feet to reduce vibration.
