No worries. What type of blast pot do you have out of interest? There will be other things I would probably need this type of kit for so if I can get something at a reasonable price it might be worth the investment. (I may still be passing having said that but if the kit isnt too much I might invest)Ahh, you are a fair way then. I thought you were Exeter based.
Im driving up and down the m5 daily at the moment between junctions 27 and 25 (we are about 20 mins from j27).
It's probably not worth you driving all the way from gunnislake, but if you find yourself crusing the M5 for other reasons it might be more attractive.
In post #16, I quoted the datasheet as saying "The Penguard HB datasheet says that galvanised surfaces shall be cleaned "to ISO 12944-5 Part 6.1.4 Alkaline Cleaning". I can't understand why anyone would buy an expensive product like this and then ignore the instructions for use.
But then, I prefer to stick with using a "paint system" with primer and top coat coming from the same source and used as per maker's directions.
I once had to explain to someone why an Amstrad 8 ohm amplifier hadn't lasted long with Philips 4 ohm speakers.
Yep - that datasheet is what I ended up reading. As you said earlier, it says to lightly abrade the surface, not just wash off with a degreaser. I just want to give the paint the best chance of sticking and staying there... hence this thread. The real issue is Jotun and every other industrial coating manufacture will say on the data sheet "for professional use only" or some other such wording,
If you look at page 5 of the data sheet you quote you will see Jotun's disclaimer.
The big industrial coating manufacturers don't really supply to the DIY market and aren’t interested in it, but lots of their products leak out because (fortunately for us) the control are pretty much non-existent.
You don’t have to look too far to get the information you require to do an excellent job with Jotun or any other suitable industrial coating.
Remember not everyone want to wade through loads of often irrelevant information when all they want to do is slap a bit of paint on.
If you look at the application guides for the HB on the Jotun web site there is, in my opinion, more than enough information on what you need to do regarding prep and application.
