getting close to my 16th so ive just bought a nice aprilia area 51 moped but the oly problem is that its bright yellow! so my question is.. what paint is suitable for plastics coz ive been told cellulose doesnt stick it will just for a shell around the plastic, all i really want to do is add some nice shiney black in places to give it some more black in the black to yellow ratio!

Be careful painting plastic as some paints will attack it. There will be some paint type people along in a bit who can give you better advice than I can, but depending on how much you need to cover I would consider using self adhesive vinyl. Again, you need to be a bit careful because some glues attack plastic also...

But, if you insist, get yourself some plastic primer. Scuff up the surface with Scotchbrite, give it a good wipe with acetone or spirit wipe (not white spirit) a coat of plastic primer, then your cellulose.

ye i was thinking about that but i cant find a place that does a big black roll everywhere just seems to sell gofast stripes!

you need to either buy plastic primer and car bumper paint or 1lt of celluose+flexable additive + plastic primer

now for the mechanical side of things! is there any moped er scooter er... anybody who knows whats best for these to get more speed, im looking to spend around 300-400 fpr performance parts, been thinking about malossi big bore kit, leo vince exhaust, bigger carb reeds ect opinions please!!

Never tuned a scooped before, but I guess it's the same as any other 2 stroke so a porting job and decent exhaust would be a start.
Assuming your laws are the same as ours it should be restricted to 30mph. If you can find out how they have restricted it you should be able to remove that restriction - not that I am suggesting you break the law here.
Some have lift limiters in the carbs, some have over-restrictive exhausts, some are more devious.

ye the restrictor on these are just a small washer in the exhaust to slow the flow down it has already been removed and does about 60mph but i want to hopefully get it at 80mph but wheelying to it

cheapest way to tune a scooter is to buy a ready tuned one 2nd hand one. Money pit otherwise.

You could even try a 125 lump in there if your not fussed about being legal.

your not gonna get much more than 60 out of a 50cc, a lot of the speeds chav reel off are a load of crap - "my mate in his corsa was along side and he said I was doing 98mph, and I was only on half throttle, innit"

If you tune it up to do 80, put brakes on that will cope with 100, not the toss things that are on at the moment.

I didn’t, ended up with a close encounter with the undertaker, 6 month in hospital where they put more metal in me than I had on the bike, lost me job, got prosecuted and I still limp.

PS Make sure you write a will, it wont kill you but makes life easier for the family you leave behind.

Have fun BUT be carefull. Speed doesn’t kill, it’s the sudden stop at the end.

Any old paint in a rattle can will do. For a good finish use primer, laquer, loads of wet n dry paper

For a "rat bike" look just scrub the panels a bit and spray over with matt black

For more speed the best option is a cylinder kit, bigger carb (set up well), decent exhaust for starters. There's loads of stuff you can add after that to fine tune it like variator/rollers/clutch/clutch springs etc

It is a scooter, as the engine's connected to the rear suspension, whereas a motorbike's engine is mounted to the frame, and only the back wheel's mounted to the rear suspension, if you see what I mean.

... it's been derestricted. Legally, it's a 50cc motorbike, so you shouldn't be riding it for another year, if you live that long...

Offical categories are moped and motorcycle

You can even get mopeds with more than 2 wheels
