29 for me, I had Footprint, Elliot Lucas and Rabone stuff in my apprentice issue toolkit. I'm still using the Footprint Screwdrivers although they're probably a fair bit shorter now than when they came over the counter.

However, some bigger industry still seems to have a decent presence in the UK from what I have seen.
Big list of old school tool makers now under James Neil Holdings. Many of these names haben't been heard of for years.

There are still companies that produce things here just not the large volume consumer items of old.
Recently bought one of these, top quality and marketed as made in england. However, the charger is made in china and there is a good chance the battery might be too.
Last year bought a makita lxt impact gun which turned out to be made in england, although all my other lxt stuff is made in china.

That is good news indeed. I still have a Maun safety ruler from when I was an apprentice
I see the straight edge is still available but these are now imported. I don't know if it is the same Maun or there were different divisions?ive never seen that before.......some familiar names mentioned

god that brings back memories being an apprentice all the holes through joists for cables had to be drilled by hand with one of them .at age of fifteen you ended up with muscles like garth augering and knocking all the boxes in brick by hand younguns dont know they are born nowadays
