Moore and Wright quality

I seen on the machine dro website they do quite a lot of Moore and Wright measuring tools, i had the impression that they had gone under years back. The new stuff is probably far eastern or am i wrong ? Its not too expensive, i'd like to buy a vernier height gauge in the new year and the M&W is a lot cheaper than mititoyo stuff for instance. Does anyone have any experience of the latest Moore and Wright stuff ?

I recently bought a combi square set and I'm very pleased with it, I wouldn't have any problems buying new Moore and wright stuff.

their old stuff was always excellent but i cant say i have even seen anything new from them, the new mititoyo on the other hand is still the same great quality cant go wrong with it really but like you say it is pricey!

Believe that M and W now do two two qualities but their "original " is up there with the best . I've got a combination square that I was given 50 years ago and other than having lost the scriber its as good as new.

I have some of their old sheffield made stuff too and always found it good, but i was just wondering what the new stuff is like.

I buy the 'old' Moore and Wright gear off ebay - combi squares and engineers squares generally, which can be had for very little considering their worth. These have always been fine and maintain their accuracy.
I bought a 'new' M&W digital vernier for my own use, had it a few years and seems ok. I wouldnt be suprised if the new stuff was, like a lot of stuff, now far eastern.

moore and wright produce tools over here and in china .i have a lot of there gear along with starret
