Modified calipers

Has anyone reduced the outside edge of car brake calipers the one pictured is a steel Ford one possibly off a Sierra I would like to fit it under some 14" alloys the normal fitment should be a 15".

I haven't test fitted to the car yet to see what the disc to caliper clearence is but so long as it's not massive I can space the wheels out about 10mm and the thickest bit of the caliper is about 19mm which if I took it down to the smallest part which is 14 to 15mm it should just fit.

The calipers and discs were free so it'll only be my time I'll loose if it won't go if I try it.

Hi, too many variables to say, it depends on size of disc and caliper mount position. You need to do a trial fit to know for sure. It is usually just the corners at the end that need relieving.

I have mocked it up in the wheel and it's the high point on the caliper over the disc so bang in the middle of the joint. I've relieved bike calipers to clear spokes but not the top.
