Well I have made a start. Never had cause to use the faceplate and by the looks of it neither has anyone else, it is as new:
I spent considerable time trying to get this set up, it was a compromise in four different directions:
of course a counterweight was needed:
Not perfect but it was good enough, the balance that is. Naturally it ended in tears. This is the most expensive casting in the kit (well it would be wouldn't it) and as anyone who has worked with cast will tell you, my setup was doomed from the start. I really should know better. I have snapped a few castings in my time so I have absolutely no excuse, other than age. So I will blame that.
On a brighter note @doubleboost sent me a care package containing reamers so I will get on and do the bits needed for those and I can get them returned:
