But he's not! They cost quite a bit more than I thought!

I'm fairly sure mine was much less than £20, about 5-6 years back.
Seems a big difference, isn't "inflation" usually somewhere around 2-5%, or so? Surely can't have more than doubled in such a short time.

Feel like a naive kid, now - I'll have to go and ask Mrs Joe if all the numbers I hear on the news are lies!

I dread the day Kid Joe starts asking me about driving. The kind of "Can you put me on your insurance?" type of question.
Don't even think you can do that anymore, either.
Kinda sucks being young - but don't despair, it won't last long!

and you still pay that much find another company, insurance for young people is now a ripp off as not all are bad drivers, i only paid £150 for a 3 litre when i was 18

2 years ago, I was a proud owner of a 1988 Volvo 740 saloon, 2.3 petrol, with only 42,000 on clock original...Bought it for £350, had it for a year, but had to sell due to insurance going through the roof after that first year of ownership...

I sold it to a collector who had 15 others, and he promised he's look after it... I still miss it today.

moved bussiness premises less then 2 miles a few years ago and it added another 150 quid which was annoying because the vehicles were never kept at either address which wasnt taken into consideration at all its just a scam

Chris knott ins wont even quote now for Liverpool Manchester parts of the Wirral some parts of brum
had all that when trying to get quote for a estima (imported Toyota previa
insurance went from £350 1st year £550 2nd year renewal for third year £1000so that was sold even in Doncaster we are classed as high risk there is a table for post code insurance rates if i put a rural post code in i can knock £200 off my insurance and we are in a good bit but not according to there post codes

It's not just about theft*, it's claims in general. One of the reasons the Manchester area is so bad is it's allegedly either where the 'crash for cash' scam began or the part of the UK that's most popular for it. Personal injury claims is where the money goes in claims. I really don't want to know how the full details of how acturaries do their thing as it must mind numbingly dull but it wouldn't suprise if it's simple as the cost of claims in the new postcode run higher than the old one and you're driving through it every single day. If the extra £150 was a mid term increase rather than new business then a chunk is probably admin fees- the more money they raise that way the easier it is to for them to keep reporting that they pay out £1.20 for every £1.00 taken in motor premiums

*perversly it used to always be cheaper if the car was kept off the road (makes sense, less likely to be crashed into) and better again if garaged. Not always the case anymore... modern cars are harder to nick without keys, if it's parked on the drive the thief knows which house to break into
