Mobile welder quotes for project

If anyone of you knows a mobile welder, (or yourself!) in South Norfolk, I am quite keen to get a quote to help repair my Hijet, which I have made a start on.
I want a proper job done, no overlaps to rust out.
It wont be as the original due to odd shapes, but its not a restoration.
I have already chopped of the left sill and made up new panels (though a bit banana'd) and made up most of the outer arch. The right side isn't fantastic, but could be worse.

It is outside under a tiny bit of cover I have made, no workshop luxuries here.
I would like to do it myself but the amount of pain I find myself in is ridicules, so difficult to pull the welder out of storage, and I am not a fast worker.
Its got to the point where I am considering using the limited number of beer tokens I have to get it done rather than get down about it.

Its probably easier to point and and grunt at it than say anymore, hopefully someone will help.

Just playing devils advocate here but for all of the above reasons you might not get anyone snapping your hand off. A 'proper job' and 'limited number of beer tokens' don't go hand in hand.

My workshop is in Norfolk - don't think Brainsparks30 - will be wanting me to quote - to scoop it up on a 7.5ton tilt and slide at £2 a mile either way - then weld it up for our standard workshop rate of £50 an hour plus consumables.

Hi. I'm not local and I'm not volunteering, but for info when I've helped mates out in the past it's a no-win situation for me.
Do it cheap (and quick) with a patch over the rust and you're not happy with the quality.
Cut the rust out and butt weld a shaped repair piece in = lots of time (not cheap, even at "mates rates"), and you're not happy with the price.

Frankly for most of the experianced its a none starter, mostly it because of being bitten too many times
Little jobs that grow, folks who dont pay or big fire damage claims .

Why do people always want professional level welding doing for next to nothing?

I'd hazard a guess that most people's prices just to get the welder out and setup is more than this chap wants to pay for the whole job done to a "proper job" standard

to be fair to the op he may be a millionair with big pockets and beer money money could be in the 1000s

i suspect not but you never know but better to take a lots of photos ask what price would be fair for this welding may have been the better way to go the saying of beer money would make any one any good walk away

I enjoy welding.

I used to enjoy welding vehicles, and restoring them.

Used to is the key part, it’s tiresome when you have to flick a lump of spatter out of your ear as it sizzles your eardrum..

I ("we") know the answers, but if OP has never asked before his request is understandable.

There are a lot of potential problems to put most welders off this type of job :
working outside at ground level (snow this week from South West to North East), and only a few hours daylight each day.
a little job often grows very quickly due to hidden rust - ie "The Iceberg principle"
possible damage during the work (blown ECU, fire, etc)
travelling costs & setup time ? consumables? materials? prep time & fettling the repair panels?

It's a common problem, hope you find a solution

A pal owns a garage and hes always says ' can you help them out they haven't got much money' neither have I so no!

There was a mobile car welder near me called dick the spit. I remember him welding on a new front x member to a transit, I laughed when it came off along with the front bumper on the first speed bump

Bear in mind that the work I have outlined so far on the Scimitar bodges thread has been nearly a week of labour. At commercial rates, that would be getting on for £2k. I don't think people realise how labour intensive it is. Then I have had to spend another £70 on gas.

Might be cheaper to buy another HiJet with good body but MOT failure on mechanicals and make one out of the two
