In the Daily Mirror today there is a full page advert for tools and the like one of which is for a Wolf 7kva Petrol generator with electric start (model number WP7500E) for £399.99 with p&p of £24.98. Reduced £80. Anybody had/heard anything good/bad about this model?

if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. 7kva should depending on your definition of moderate, 6.5 kva plus requirement on my 180 esab

Wolf are rebadged generic Chinese junk, they work, but are very low quality, and don't last long.
