I had a good book but I lent it to someone and it’s grown legs and refuses to come back.

Hate it when you try do a good turn and it turns out like that. Books and tools I'm loath to lend out now

Ive finally got AC Davies and kept it for years...because I rarely see anyone

Same with Metallurgy books.......but Im constantly trying to find my missing Spike Milligan books.....sometimes get them for a couple of quid on amazon

My grandkids are amazed at my book shelves...."what are they for gwandad"....until they got into "Forged in Fire" and I became a hero

I’ve read some of his work in the ‘Esab Library’ if You can call it that.

Have you seen anything by Tad Bonicewski or Irwin Malsingh

Both worked for Esab....both did consultancy work and taught me a lot......I have a book written by Irwin about Developing Electrode Coatings......often thought I should finish it off but I suspect it would have very limited readership...

Tad was a very strong personality who didnt stand fools.......very knowledgeable, very clever but no bedside manner

Comprehensive, to say the least. As an aside, the history of how SS-FCAW came to Britain’s yards at the dawn of offshore jacket fabrication is fascinating.

My ex boss was sent over from Texas to, basically, service those yards....Santa Fe, McDermotts etc etc

I was working for him when he produced that but a lot of it was taken from the Lincoln America metallurgists.....and the stuff on Iron Powder SAW which caused quite a stir in the Iron Powder Industry........I carried on with some trials and eventually we stopped selling it as it didnt do what it said on the box...It created quite a reaction.

If you got an AC machine thats all you can do mate. My first welder was like that.
