Who sells PATON in the UK?
Welding Supplies Direct now stock them.
Who sells PATON in the UK?
They advertise at £320 a set that Paton advertise for £170..........Have I got it wrong?.........Im intrigued...........Welding Supplies Direct now stock them.
Ahh sorry @Munkul I read your original post as marginal gains between the Fronius and the Paton...hadn't realised you meant the Hyundai. I had that thought too...I'm definitely not experienced enough to say either way. What I might do is have a go with 7018 rods and see how I get on with them. You're on marginal gains upgrading your hyundai mma set, positional work has always been a lot easier with 7018 and nothing will change here.
If you have a sherman sitting up the loft there's a brand new 200amp Mma machine right there, problem solved at no expense apart from maybe some leads.Ahh sorry @Munkul I read your original post as marginal gains between the Fronius and the Paton...hadn't realised you meant the Hyundai. Yea I think the Sherman has arc force...but it's still in it's box in the loft .
The Paton as a 250A mig and an MMA too is pretty appealing I think...but maybe it's "want" not "need" that's going on here! Don't want to end up with a loft full of brand new welding machines!
That's the main reason I haven't used it for MMA and prefer a dedicated machine....the last MMA job I did was chaos and it'd be easy to give it a kick or drop something on it. Most of the stuff I do is outdoors and it's easier carrying around a little MMA box than a Sherman I think.Just have a set of long leads for it keeps it away from all the dust and other rubbish stick welding gives off.
Are Welding Supplies Direct the only UK Supplier..........and I suspect they wont want to know if youve bought it direct from Poland. Thanks for all the input so far...much appreciated.
Last night I was convinced I wanted the Paton....slept on it and today I'm not 100% so needs more thought.
I really like the Paton...main concern is getting spares if I need them. There is Welding Supplies Direct but when I look them up they aren't a huge outfit I think. Also I much prefer being able to order spares online, or at least know that they are easily available.
Maybe as more people in the UK buy the Paton the spares situation will improve going forwards. Its not the end of the world of course...I bought the Sherman TIG for example (but in that case I assumed that the Jasic parts would be interchangeable).
Beings able to extend the setup to a 250A mig (with pulse) is a major advantage....I also looked at their combined machines (the blue ones)...but when I look at the power consumptions spec it's different to the red machines which got me a bit suspicious that they might be different inside?
I'd have that problem tooThe problem I was having was specifically overhead but I was using 6013 rods
Plenty of reviews and repair videos about PATON on this YT channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyvCZ6frAF4VU2la1Kt7GDQ/videos.It would be good to get some internal views, PCB layout, heatsinks/airflow routing, and component numbers.
What happens with warranty work......do they have a service dept?@TechnicAl welding supplies direct sells the paton units

But having said all that I think it makes sense to have a go with the Sherman and do a cross compare with the Hyundai.....the problem I was having was specifically overhead but I was using 6013 rods which might be more difficult for a novice.
I don’t really understand what you mean by that. All of the welding machines we sell in our range are made at the same factory in Germany, so to say the entry level MicorSTICK 160 is produced in the same place as the 500 amp AC/DC tigs etc with the same level of quality of components etc.....but even so, the Transpocket 1500 is the smallest/lowest cost machine from the Fronius range so surely the same logic would applyI looked at the micorstick but I discounted it...can't remember why though. I think I was worried about buying the cheapest in the range from a big brand....basically getting the version big companies push out for market share.
Yes we do indeed, and spare parts on the shelf should we need them. What happens with warranty work......do they have a service dept?
