Just a wee test...
ESAB 48.00, 3.25mm, 95A, DC+, arc force 30%.
10mm thick S355 pates in a tee joint.

Root, followed by a slightly agricultural weave. 95A seems “cold”, yet any hotter and I find the puddle too fluid and departing for the floor

115A 3.2mm DCEP for the root you need to push a really tight arc. No Arc force.
On an inverter your arc force bumps the current to stop the arc extinguishing when you hold a tight arc.

Very helpful as ever . Funny enough, when I revisited the tests I’m running, I managed to get up to 120A, and eliminated the misbehaviour in the puddle by applying a wee bit of push angle and picking up the pace a fraction. The 48.00 are a thoroughly civilised rod .

I’m planning some cutting and etching.
