I GAVE AWAY a nice unrestored F reg MKI (with 12" wheels) as at the time they were worthless and way too good to be scrapped when clearing out a mates lock-up (he'd moved permanently abroad) 
I also weighed in several MKIII Cortina's and a MKIV two door !
If only I had a time machine.

Chassis and floor are mint, but the accident kinked the rear chassis leg, and the boot floor is crumpled.
What's the betting that it ends up nicked like 90% of them end up. Lovely car, but folk think they're worth far much more than they really are.

Firstly I will declare I'm not a Ford fan at all, however I think that the value is inflated by rose tinted misty eyed folk who in their later years have a bit of spare cash and want to relive their youth

With the huge interest in historic rallying there's a fair chance that the car will go for a lot more, maybe 5k and end up being built into a Mk1 RS rally car. Mk 1 shells are scarce & that one has a good base to build on. A Mk2 shell is making 3k and they're relatively common.
No harm there then they aint worth a carrot even now.
In all honesty I'm not a great Ford fan either even though I have a few of them, I also have a nice P6 that I love to death and that's not worth a carrot either

Who doesn't have fully comp insurance on a 3 year old car ? Seems the original owner didn't otherwise why didn't they claim off insurance. Maybe they did and the car was actually an insurance write off in 1975 so no proper identity ?

actually once over it was quite common to do this, after all they were not planning on having a bump. I think it died out some time circa the 1980's

it would be a nice car to restore, despite the damage but only on the road for 3 years from new ? not so sure about that & 34k over 3 years back then would be classed as high mileage
