Mixing ON with PB

Ok guys, now such a question....

My old vw dizel is going bad, it's 1.6TD with 17bar pressure but still fires (although it has it quite hard).

My thoughts lately is to boost it a bit, how much petrol can be added to ON to be on the safe side?

A heatlhy diesel engine easily accepts 10% mix for example in winter which I often do with my little chimney

So how about 20% with such compression? Or can I go with more?

The more petrol you add the less lubrication the fuel pump gets and the harder the bottom end gets hammered. If the engine is worn treat it kindly if you want it to last a bit longer!

The bottom end is strong, the bearings are new and the crankshaft is perfect, as for the lubrication it's also no worry since I am going to use 2T oil....

This is the baby to be fed... Fritz is going to have an engine replaced, either the rings are dead or the head.. I don't care right now 'cos I am going for the 1.9 anyway because of the clutch that slips.....

Rig Pig was referring to the lubrication inside the fuel system not the engine. My son runs his diesel mercedes all the time on a mix of refined used veg oil and 10% to 15% petrol depending on the weather temp.

I am referring to the lubrication inside the fuel system, that's why I am going to add 2t oil to the mix

15% sounds ok, but I believe it will not be enough, will start with 20% then..

and so I did it, finally adding 15L of PB to 40L of ON.

The result is that the car is not that strong as I expected, I think I didn't gain anything, perhaps I even lost some power. I believe that under 17bar petrol is very stable and self-combustion-proof and it won't burn until it gets ignited from oil. But again there is less oil now so its capability of selfcombusting is even worse.

The engine works nice, apart from the fact that it is jerky when idling. What I gained although is clean exhaust, not a single cloud of smoke which is something I like and for the time being, until I prepare the next engine, I will live with 10L mix.
