That's what I did to form a nice flat on the end of some of my fittings as the slight angle one them just doesn't seem right.Just make sure there are no dings in the end of the stop valve fitting, else the rubber washer won't seal completely. A quick rub (small circular motions) onto some fine wet and dry paper is usually enough to take small dings out. A smear of silicone grease will help.
A flat faced isolating valve would be a better option.
Yes ^ utter crap!I avoid fittings taps etc from Victoria plumb or Victorian plumbing etc cheap rubbish
