I’ve got the cylinder head removed from a Mitsubishi Shogun Sport with the 4D56 diesel engine. It initially looked like the gasket had failed between the coolant passage at the back of the head and cylinder 4. Initial symptoms were using coolant and combustion gases entering the cooling system.
Just cleaning up the head and there’s a crack between the valves on cylinder 4, is this also going to be a cause of the problems?
There’s also a fair bit of pitting in the combustion chamber on 4
