mini restoration...which welder???

i hav enrolled on a welding course to help me with the restoration of my mini and future mini projects. im no expert but was thinkin a gas mig welder would be best for welding on a mini. any advice and/or if u know anyone selling a welder in the north east i'd be very greatful for ur input. thanks guys!

If you have no heavier work planned than the Mini restoration, my suggestion would be one of the Clarke MIG's.

The maximum power is not important for your requirements so a 90 amp or 100 amp would do you...BUT... it's always nice to have a bit extra so if you can budget to or find a 150amp you will have a good capable machine.

I would't hesitate to recommend a Clarke 150 like mine. It's done more than a few jobs on Minis and possibly as much on other cars. It's probably a bit OTT if you only ever intend to work on car bodywork but as the man says it's always nice to have the oomph to weld a big meaty bracket that's going to hang a battleship off the house wall (or maybe just some hanging baskets).

A 130 will do anything on a Mini and heavier stuff besides but I've often struggled with 90/100 amp machines making nice welds. It seems bizarre but my bigger machine is much easier to use on finer stuff.
