Hi all,
First new post here so be gentle please.
I did a small welding course at college (35 years ago), have had a SIP stick set for ages and still run the trailer I built with it over 30 years ago. I have a small Lincoln MIG, bought for me by the Mrs when I built the tri-fold doors for the garage (mainly 1.5mm steel box) and although I've still got my Saffire gas stuff (cutting and welding) I took my bottles back to BOC just yesterday (another ~£165 / year to probably sit unused). ;-(
So, feeling the need to have *some* gas stuff I fancied one of the Rothenberger / Oxy Turbo type mini kits. I used to have and still could have somewhere one of those little BernsOmatic Oxy/Wotsit sets and used it several time with good results (the last of which was brazing a motor support bracket back on Mums old washing machine and it's still working to this day). ;-)
So, I appreciate this request doesn't come under the normal 'welding' heading but I guess if anyone might know the pros and cons of any of these sets (for what they are etc) then it would probably be here. ;-)
Specific questions / thoughts then if I may.
Assuming I ever find my old BernzOmatic set, I believe there are adaptors available to allow you to use the later style cylinders?
Are the cylinders you find for the Rothenberger Roxy and the Oxy Turbo type sets interchangeable do we know please?
How would either compare with the set I spotted referenced elsewhere on this forum would we know please?

I still do some small / model engineering and have several motorbikes and sometimes a fine but hot flame can be very handy for freeing up stuck stuff or some silver soldering / brazing etc.
Cheers, T i m
p.s. I'm on the lookout for a no rental (credit crunch) replacement for my Argoshield bottle please (Nth London / Herts)?
