Production, yes - but they still have a lot of R&D stuff over here so would assume it’s to do with that.

Very little now, dysentery group claim they do. In the real world there is not much hands on stuff. Lots of computer design. But the builds are else were.
I will say he does use a lot of local bus to keep his large house together. Get of the M4 at bath, turn north and you see his big metal gates.
That's why I don't work for the last place I was at. Drive an unregistered, un MOTed, untaxed FLT on a public road. No thank you.

Compensation may help but believe me you are better off not getting hurt in the first place, I busted my left arm at work 40 years ago & still paying for it with severe arthritis.
As for moving heavy stuff it always amazes me the lack of common sense, some years back the college where i used to work had a bridgeport mill & needed it moved, My mate & i gave them a price & the head of dept thought he would save money & move it with a couple of premises staff..... on a pallet truck, you know where this is going dont you!
They pushed it over a drainage gully & the grating collapsed, the whole lot ended up teetering on the point of falling over.
I got a phone call from the premises manager can you come now & make it safe & move it?
Wedged it up with blocks & wedges & got a toe jack under the low side, wedges went in as the jack lifted, I always put a thin bit of ply on the toe so it wont slide steel to steel.
At this point the head of dept starts prying the other side with a crowbar , he got upset when i told him to go forth & multiply in not so many words.
Got it moved on my own with one of the caretakers who was sensible!

how far did it need to be driven?
can't remember the distance from the top of my head, but you're allowed out on a road to load./unload stuff and to move between sites

I think you need to own both sites as well. Ie you can’t drive 49m to a friends site, load his lorries and then drive back..
Lots of roads stuff takes place after 50m. Seatbelts is another
I've done and still do some stupid and dangerous stuff but I always do it when everyone else has gone home or at weekends when no one is on site. So it's only ever me who could get injured.
I regularly get questioned on a Monday morning about how I did a job. And my answer is always " iam still alive so it must have been safely"

you should try reporting it h&s are two faced
they dont want to know unless something happens then they dive in with all the claws they have after the poor worker when its the bosses fault in the first place
all workmen can do is either except it or walk away let some other moron take it on
workers cant win for trying ( mostley a catch 22 position ) refuse and your sacked or get no work
report them and your black listed unable to work

It has probably took a while to get to court, investigation etc.
You would be surprised at the draconian punishments handed out in China.
