Didn't know Dyson did a wet and dry.Least they had plenty of vacuum cleaners to clear-up the mess.
I rolled both my lathes and a mill drill out of my van and into the garage on my Tod.I will shortly be moving a Bridgeport out of my workshop and onto a pallet outside, and we are ****ing it. We will not be jacking it up, we will use a forklift lifting from an eye on the top of the machine and keeping the hell away from it.
They would of done, but they coudn't afford it.Surprised they didn’t use a dyson digital lift powered by a dyson digital motor
good point..Incident happened in 2019, Hasn’t dyson moved production to china now?
No risk of being fined by health and safety over there!
so is that you then in the videotry a 20 ton stone
the packing method is a really handy method even i use it often when needed
They were fined because they didn’t have a safe system of work. Now, if you shift a lot of machines you might think that someone would document a “how to” - what tools, slings jacks etc, limits on heights of lifting without overhead support etc. Coupled with a risk assessment that shows it is safe. This is a safe system of work, and any company with more than x number of employees should have such things in their health and safety policy. If that's the fine I wonder how much the payout/compensation for the worker is going to be
Does make you wonder where all this is going, folk will be suing halfords when the get knocked off there bikes. If the guys moving the machine didn't know or were unsure of what they were doing they should of declined the job. How much cotton wool are we supposed to wrap our workers in
Bob
Partially why I'm a sole trader and don't employ anyone. They were fined because they didn’t have a safe system of work. Then you add training of staff to carry out the job, with records etc.
These are the hoops you have to jump through as a business to keep your employees safe, insurance happy and @Parm out of your hair. It does work, but for a small company can seem daunting at first.
Oh, if you rarely shift machines, you still don’t get away from having a documented method statement and risk assessment. Well you do, until it goes wrong and @Parm arrives (or should I say @Parm s replacement?)
People still manage to kill themselves working, which if you think about the silliness of it, just doesn’t make sense.
Why would you stand opposite to the side being lifted. You don't need training to work that out.
The outcome here would clearly suggest they DID need training.
No mate. The outcome suggests he shouldn't have been in the environment full stop. The outcome here would clearly suggest they DID need training.
Not when those two are involved. Gaurenteed bloke that got injured won’t see more than £50k, if thatwho gets the million quid from the fine i know theres court costs and hse want there cut but must be some surplus
