Milling / drilling slots

Hi All

We are being tasked with drilling a load of slots into PFC's and I beams that we cant easily get into a Mill, is there a mobile tool ideally something like a mag drill that can be used for this job?

Mag drill cutters actually work well for milling. I don't know how deep you can go with them before getting into trouble though. Some sort of clamp-on slide would be my first choice. You could make one or adapt/buy something. Chain drilling is anothe roption but they do leave scollops and they like to jump about a bit.

What diameter/depth/slot length are we talking here?

Plasma cutter - make yourself a template and you can get some reasonable results

Ideally I wanted something accurate and easy for anyone to use, I am thinking of making one with a slide may using a large screw mechanism to stop it jumping along.

Its not for a huge slot, 12mm material, 12mm wide slot 30mm long.
