hi people ,
i bid on the above machine on e bay and recieved a second chance offer on it , it says the machine has only been used 3 or 4 times and from the pictures looks very clean .
Apparently the buyer is going abroad and he wants rid quick ,(collected before sunday) my bid was £350
Does any one have any experience /knowledge of this machine , i had a look at the owners manual pdf , made in italy and will work on 240 or 415 volt i think ??

i think i will offer him a bit less as i was really after something with a few more amps but it should do to get some practice on until i can afford the portamig with seperate wire feed



good thing is its quite local comes with a gas bottle(boc) and two rolls of wire .

so should i go for it

Whatever you don't do it through eBay. Get a phonee number and do it off-line cash on collection. Those second chance things are almost always cons, often from our african brothers who have been watching who is bidding on a high value item.

Those second chance things are almost always cons

I've used the feature once or twice (selling stuff). Sometimes you don't get paid by the winning bidder and sometimes you have more than one item of the same to sell. All depends on how reputable the seller is I suppose. (got ripped off once from another welding equipment distributor! ).

No, they are absoloute rubbish & you'd be better off with a Portamig... when do you want it?
I'm trying to have a butchers on eBay but it seems to have 'frozen' .... email & forum OK
Miller is good stuff yes but some of their European marketed machines are made in Italy & not as good as the genuine American built stuff + seem a bit pricey in my opinion.

Looks in good nick. Goes down to 20 amps, nice for bodywork. Duty cycle not very high but again for automotive stuff that won't be an issue. Seems a genuine seller too. I have had a few second chance offers on stuff I've bid on and have not had any problems.

Well i e mailed the guy with an offer , heard nothing back as yet .
im not overly fussed to be honest ,like i said a few more amps wouldnt go amiss ....

If anyone else wants to snap it up i wont be upset

What do you want to do with the thing Mike? A 180amp set is good for automotive work & light fabrication work... that's it.

Light and medium fabrications , kinda 2mm to 10 mm thicknesses ,

if i buy it for £ 350 will you give me £450 for it as trade in against a new portapotty mig ? :full

You won't do 10mm with a 180! 250amps minimum, and you'll be working at capacity with that! Ask Wozzaah, he'll advise

Absolutely! I had a (well, still got it actually ) 220 amp Butters machine and it was (is) a lovely machine but just not capable of handling anything like the claimed thicknesses for very long. That Miller will be ok on 2mm and probably up to 5 or 6mm for short periods but for 10mm will not be suitable at all, it's really ideal for automotive use and not much else. With a duty cycle that low you'd be forever stopping to wait for it to cool down. 20%@180A means a lot of idle time on thicker stuff.
