Is it worth refurbishing this old Miller
In my other work place I've been using a prweld ttx 202 but don't get on with it too well plus it's not water cooled, they have this Miller lying in the corner that they say used too much gas and electricity, it could also do with a new torch
I cant believe it would use any more gas than any other welder?
I can imagine it might be a bit heavy on the electric but I cant see that being an issue unless you are planning on welding for hours on end?
You could try powering it up and see if it works, just check the cooler is flowing before you try welding with it.
The gas solenoid's valve might well be stuck open, due to dusty crud it's ingested over the years.
They are very easy to dismantle and clean out. Or £20 to replace.
I bought 2 machines very cheaply, due to stuck gas solenoid valves.
One was stuck open. When I collected it, chap said his solution was to get a mate to open / close the regulator, via a nod each time he welded...
One was stuck closed. Ex-body shop. Seller had resprayed it, fitted decent new castors, then given up on it.
Miller was fixed works lovely for around 5-10 minutes before the high frequency starts to stutter it is getting left in again I'd also love it if it was working
