Millenicut file?

i was brouseing my copy of engineering workshop practice the other day and read a reference to millenicut files. Had a look on Internet and I can find the for sale but not a lot of reviews.

Dose anybody use them and are they any good?

They are coarse tooth, going diagonal across the file, rather than checkered pattern, they remove a lot of metal quick, but leave ridges in it. Not for fine file work. More like a broach than a file.

Fantastic things for soft materials that tend to clog 'regular' files even if you load them with chalk and use a file card regularly. While a bastard file is typically around 26TPI, millenicut (diagonal teeth) and dreadnought (curved teeth aka vixen file) are usually around 9TPI and the teeth are undercut with a decent radius at the root to reduce clogging. Akin to non-ferrous burrs versus the more common double cut style

Despite their coarsness they can leave a pretty decent finish, especially on say aluminium and especially compared to the result an animal using a partly clogged 'regular' double cut file would get. Dreadnought/vixen is the tooth style used for body files, fantastic not only for pick and file finishing and lead work but the coarser ones are also good for roughing in filler

I'd not heard of them until a few years ago when we bought some to use on Aluminuim fixture modifications, they shift a lot of material without clogging.

I might get a couple to try, sound good for aluminium.

They are very good for soft metals and some plastics. I have one that I found in rented house years ago, very useful thing to have though I did not know what it was called.
