And would a 'face mill' be something that you might use to surface a cylinder head for example?You'll need endmills and slotmills in various sizes and a way to hold them.
10mm endmill is a nice size to have I found, and some smaller ones. I buy them when I need them for a specific job, because when I would buy everything I wanted in one go I'll go bankrupt.
Chinese ER collet chuck's can be had cheap, but I made an MT3 endmill holder myself on the lathe which holds a 20mm endmill and I made some adapter bushings for 10mm and 6mm. It's not a lot off work to make additional bushings for different sizes.
I bought a Chinese made flycutter on internet from Germany which came with a 8mm hss blank but I put a 8mm lathe tool in it with 4mm round button inserts. Can't take heavy cuts with it, but gives a really nice finish.
