Mill machine y axis leadscrew parallel to dovetails?

Im currently rebuilding my taiwanese turret head mill, and noticed that the leadscrew nut is not in a parallelwith the table , its position is offset, is this correct or a machining error? I ask as this may be the ason the original nut is deformed quite badly

A leadscrew must always run parallel to linear ways, in every axis.

That is exactly what i thought, well this thing is around 3-4mm out! No wonder the original is knackered, it ahs been forced too
