Hi the 110v side did not work untill I Iturned the grinder I pluged in backwords, the grinder works now, I dont know what load its giving I'm sorry for the late reply I have to get used to using this forum thank you for any help you can give me.

Sounds like it hasn't lost all it's magnetism then. Probably a wiring issue. Have you ever had it apart?

Hi again yes I had it apart but it was the same before I took it apart.there is some way of flashing it I believe from high power but I don't know how to do it

Well, as it's a permanent magnet alternator, if the magnets have lost their magnetism, I'm not sure how you would get that back...

Best to find another mighty midget on eBay and use your engine on it.

I cant find a 300 amp unit lots of 200 amps on ebay

I have been told someone in Scotland can fix it but it will be too expensive with delivery costs

It quite clearly says on the data plate 'do not remove permanent magnet rotor from stator under any circumstances'...

The 200a ones will push a 4mm lo-hi straight through 3/4 inch plate, unless you want to run 4mm and 5mm 7024, I would struggle to see how you would need any more power.

nope, the permanent magnets are fooked... The magnetism in these is what makes the power.

I did not see any warnings about removing removing the permanent magnet rotor from the stator. will the 200amp be ok on the big Lister ?

Yeah, be fine, but the 2 stroke ones are lighter, easier to start in the winter and quieter... I wouldn't have a diesel one.

The dealer near me said he used to fix these welders, he used lots of capacitors and flashed the coil but he would not tell me nothing else, and he said he does not have the capacitors anymore so he cannot fix it, every thing is a big secret how to fix it I don't know why they don't tell if they are not fixing these old sets anymore

There's a 200 amp one in Chorley, which isn't too far away from you...

Yes I did look at that on ebay at Chorley its been on before but its a non runner and they dont know if the alternator is ok,yes I see the sticker now do not remove but it not on mine.

60 mls= 3 hrs= 3gall = God loves a trier= chorley may b keeping mum good luck

60 mls = 1 hr = 1.2 gall = buy a VW SHARAN 1.9 TDI and don't be put off by all you read and hear about VW. Yes God Loves a tryer, thank you my friend God bless you and us all. By the way, I bought that Mighty Midget Welder from Chorley and I collected it yesterday, it costs nothing to collect it as I paid £10 less than the price you said. So now, I'm in Gods hands I'm hoping it will work good when I fit it. I will let you know how things turn out.
