The old ones just use basic off the shelf components. The wire speed potentiometer gave up on mine but a replacement was just over a quid from Maplin.I think spares are expensive and hard to get, not sure how new prices compare in price to miller, Lincoln, Esab, I’ve got an old LTE 200 in the garage but it weighs a ton!
Good machine. Old now. Still lots kicking about. Popular with mechanics garages.
The 161i is the new one still available in the dealers.

I didn’t know your little welder went pop Pete. That’s a shame it looked like a decent little set and you ain’t had it long.I bough one (used, but barely). Made one single weld and packed up. Got in touch with Migatronic who put me on to their UK guy, who took an absolute age to call me back then after the one chat won't answer calls or email.
Find something else is my advice.
Yeah I’d of taken it on the chin too mate. One of those things and it can happen to anyone buying used. Shame though as it looked a little cracker. Shame migatronic don’t wanna help out. If there is one thing I look for in a brand when buying, that’s support. One to avoid by the sound of it.I got it off a little old lady whose husband had bought it new, welded one little job with it then sadly popped his clogs. It must have sat around in the box a while before she came round to selling it. I bid on it on eBay and it was in the box, looked like new, powered up etc but as above it went belly-up as soon as I went to use it.
Anyway, what can you do, I can't go banging on some pensioner's door demanding my money back when she's selling off her dead husband's estate, so I took it on the chin. There's absolutely no sign of fault or damage and the main board is clearly working ok. It'll accept a flash upgrade but just won't work properly, it's stuck on full power with no wire feed.
Has anyone got or used one of the above?
If so, is it any good?
