Does anyone know of a cost effective replacement ?

There isn't, apart from having the existing one repaired... and that ain't cheap. If you have electronics engineering experience you can probably do it yourself, if not, afraid you just have to pay for it.

errmm... at a guess, getting on for a grand, probably more! Beg's the question why are the boards missing? Probably been canabalised for other sets.

yes i expect so but when i recently bought them and 10 other welders i had been informed that they had been working, unfortunatly i never checked inside, have you heard that one befor ?

You've got some valuable (and desirable) kit there, but if it ain't working it's no use to anyone (that's why it's been shunted through auction at 'bargain' prices).

how much did you pay for them? They might be worth more if you weigh them in for scrap.
Or put them on ebay and decribe them as 'were working'
