I don't remember seeing anything about it in a manual?
80deg sounds more like an overheat light or thermal cutout?
Seems a bit hot to wait for a fan to come on
Apparently 80 c starts the fan, 120 c is thermal cut out. These thermostatic switches are also shown in the schematic.
My other reason for asking is I fitted the ctu3000 cooler unit, it stays on all the time. Other manufacturers sets I've used the cooler turns on when you hit the pedal.
One other question..
What's the difference between the mte and mte dialog versions? Is dialog a newer model?
Great to make contact with actual users of these machines. So far it looks like a nice set, I like it's feel on AC.
Maybe worth popping the cover off and checking to see if somebody has bypassed the fans thermal switch then?
I would imagine it would take a bit of welding to get one of those beasts up to 80c so restoring fan-on-demand might be a nice feature!
Don't know about the cooler as I never had one for mine.
The dialog is the same age of machine but has an interface socket for robotic welding or remote weld monitoring.
The also have a true current output display and the drive electronics for that.
The display is most often digital although an analog gauge is an option. I think there are 3 versions of the control panel available for both machines and there were also a lot of remote control options although you rarely see any of them on the used market
Mines the mte but has type 1 panel . Digital display with all the options..
Apparently it too supports robot / remote like the dialog does with the fully leaded panel.
As I understand it all the panels are interchangeable..
I thought the dialog was a later version simply because the manual is printed in a more modern type face, the mte manual looks like it came from a typewriter..
It might just be a newer model then?
I had the dialog version and I did have a copy of the pc interface software.
Not sure if I still have it as I think it went with the welder but it would be interesting to see if the connection on yours is live and talking if you could find a copy?
Migatronic still use the 'dialog' name for their torches with remote controls built into the handle but I would think the mte generation were well before the torch mounted remotes came out
