MIG wire for Tigging

im looking to weld a motorcycle frame soon from cds mild steel tube. Are you saying i have no choice but to use copper coated wire?

If so would the correct wire be er70-6 straight from my mig welder?

any info appreciated.

AFAIK, dear old CDS is very forgiving. I'd be inclined to use TIG rod for TIG, MIG wire for MIG unless the TIG rod you have is too thick (unlikely, I'd think, in that application).

I've not seen a non-coated MS TIG rod, but then, I ain't seen nothing yet.

Thats one possibility. It will give you a good strong weld. Personally I prefer to use whats known as A15 or A17 wire. It has lower Silicon and Manganese and produces a softer, more malleable weld. Im not really qualified to tell you what is best for your motor-bike frame, you need the designer for that.
However, if you need TIG wire thats small diameter using MIG wire is a much cheaper alternative, and it will produce a sound crack-free joint.
