Mine certainly runs a lot smoother with a 2.5% mix. Better weld profile, less splatter and less discolouration/cleanup.

Although, like I said, that might just be because that's what the synergic program was developed with.
I figured it was quicker to order a bottle of mix than it was to mess about with the settings using 100%

Just my two cents worth. I have no been able to weld S/S to my satisfaction as compared to tig, however with my latest aquasition Francesca (Tpsi 320I with pmc) it is now possible. It ultimately depends upon the finish and weld profile that you are after. I very much wanted a, as much as possible mitered fillet weld with perfect wetted toes, no black weld appearance, smooth gold colours and the ability to do so in all positions. Still the TPS320i with PMC did this needing 98 gas on .9mm wire (I have .8, .9 1.0 and 1.2mm in 316 and 309) and some fiddling to train me to get the desired results. S/S is very fluid as compared to steel and runs and or just drops out at the slightest error. I was told you will never get S/S (solid wire) to go vertically up successfully, but it seems the new hardware does make it much easier, I can even bridge gaps. All S/S that I have ever done did require 98gas no exception, I did try 100%argon, big difference.
