Mig welding settings

I am struggling with the settings on my welder
I have no problems welding 3mm plate & above but am in the process of giving up. I am attempting to weld a new inner & outer wheel arch into my car however when attempting to weld it is just splattering.
Can someone poit me in the right direction.

What are your problems, positional welding or just setting machine for 0.8mm steel repair panels.
What machine have you got? What wire size are you using? What gas? Or are you trying to use gasless wire?
Need a bit more information to help you.

apollogies for lack of information.
I am using a GYS mono mig 165, 0.6mm wire, attempting to but weld 0.8 - 1mm panels, using Argon as the gas.

How much experience have you got or is this your first time?
Have you set the welder up for 0.8mm steel i.e. power setting and wire speed?
Or are you having problems with welding position whilst working on your car?

Just trying to find where you are having problems? Trying to do car or just setting the welder up for thin sheet?

Argon or Argonshield/mix???

Sorry once again, nothing like showing that I am a complete novice:
Argon shield is the gas!!!
I have had experience with welding 3 mm steel but not thin gauge steel, The weld is not continous & spits & splatters. I have 4 x power setting & wire speed from 1 - 10

First thing is have some practice sheet of the same thickness that you are going to weld, would suggest you start at the lowest power/voltage setting and start with wire speed at about 3 or 4. Gas at about 8 to 10 lpm.
Try to do a weld first before trying a butt joint. On thin sheet you won't be able to weld continuously it will be 1/2 inch of weld then stop to allow plate to cool then weld again.

Have you cut off/out all the rusty metal and ground back to a clean metal surface.

Do not try to weld rusty car body panels with a mag/mig welder.

Any chance of some pictures of your welding/panel joint?

All surfaces are that clean they look like their polished!!
I managed to tack the panel in place, there is a spot welding setting on the GYS. I have taken some photos of the welder with the settings and the panel, unfortunately there to big to attach & my microsoft photo editor has died.
I will have another attempt tomorrow with the settings advised and will let you know how I got on with photos

Afetr taking advice given I have practised on a spare peice of metal. I have adjusted gas flow between 8 - 10 turned power to 2 adjusted wire speed to 4 & I have seemed my inner wheel arch, unfortunately my angle grinder died but afetr only paying £14 from Screwfix 3 years ago and using it constantly I cant complain!!!!
I will post some photos as soon as I can

I have some photos below (hopefully)
Unfortunately I ran out of time today to get the complete wheel arch completed only the inner. As this is my first attempt at car body work I feeling pretty pleased with myself, no doubt this will change next weekend when attempting to align the outer wheel arch.
I am attempting to restore a 1990 XR2i that was destined for the scrap yard it came with full service history (& a box file) 90k on the clock & apart from the wheel arches its as straight as a die

This car is as it was the day it came out of the show room (apart from the rust) No chav's have owned this car.
I will post some photos next weekend to show the outer wing (unless its that bad)

some cars have a slight galvanise coating on them ,some Honda car's do especialy 4x4's.
these tends to make welds porus.one of the easy way tell if your welder is set up right it should sound like bacon in the frying pan.
