A 300A machine would be capable of this thickness but as said above how experienced/good are you?
If these form ANY type of structural element you need to be certain what you are doing and preferably or legally ( in some circumstances) coded.
Most metal of that dimension and type is welded by the arc process.

You guys obviously know more than me on this and i stand corrected.
I have never been in a large structural fab shop and only seen such work done on site...in a port...by smaw (stick arc) process.This is also the way large scale ship repairs are done and i see them done reguarly.
