I would say even if you can get away with manufacturing recommendations of lower gen sets it's not a saving in the long run as your talking about running costs. A smaller generator is going to chew it's way through more fuel reving it's ar#e off to cope with the power of the welder than a bigger one ticking over nicely and not struggling. Always aim higher I say. The other thing is if you buyer a smaller one based on the recommendations you read and it is not up to the job and keeps tripping out that's a lot more money wasted there. Best to work it out for yourself and then you know your safe
