Mig Welder gas supply

Hi guys,
I bought a welder a few months back and just got round to having a play with it picked up some gas from BOC, there seems to be a slight leak somewhere and the hose to the torch is taped up in places, I was wondering how hard is it to replace these? It's the direct fit type not the Euro type.

Also, any recommendations on what to go for?

The welder is a Draper MWD121AT, it is a great welder but cause of the leak the gas flow fluctuates while welding.

When you talk about the hose being taped, are you meaning the inch or more diameter outer sheathing. On my Clarke 150 Mig I constantly had to open the torch and reconnect the gas tube to the valve because of a dodgy push - fit connector, could be a leaky one of them if the gas tube is intact. Some angles of movement, and the tensions involved, might be affecting the size of the leak, causing the fluctuation in flow.

Could try blocking the gas at the torch and then pressing the torch to listen for where it leaks.

Anyone know if this model has a gas relay? Not a machine I know but doubt it would have so unplug welder before blocking the gas off, wind the reel back a bit also to move the wire back.

No idea on the gas relay, the gas only flows through the torch when the trigger is pressed though.

The leak is under where it's already been taped on the outer sheathing, would it be worth cutting this open to repair the gas tube? I didn't realise the gas had a separate tube inside the sheathing. It also sounds like their may be a leak in the welder its self which I'll have to remove the covers to track down. Can you replace just the gas tube? The only thing that I can find when searching on google is the regulator to welder tube.

I'll pull it apart tomorrow at some point and take a look. I have some 4mm silicon and some 4mm plastic pipe, not sure if I'll have enough but I'll see.

You will find most are a hard plastic push fit type connection. Most good welding distributors will have it in stock. Usually only a around £1 per meter (if that).
I'm guessing your plastic stuff is just the job.

Sorted it today, welds much better now
