Mig selection help

I need help selecting a mig.
I am an ex panelbeater with loads of experience welding ****ty
thin rusty crap,but i'm contemplating my own fabrication (structural) for house. Machine will be used for rust repairs as well. It must be capable of welding up to 12mm. 15 amp 1 phase supply,plse help?

you would want a porta mig for that sort of stuff

12mm and 15amp ,thats asking a lot from a mig set ,,,an invertor would be capable but not sure its good to learn arc weding on something structural?

Arc welding has to be the answer for thick stuff on a domestic supply. For MIG you would need more input power. An inverter arc welder would be best - new ones are almost all inverters and they are more efficient than any secondhand transformer based ones (less input power needed).

ARC isn't as scary as it looks - you ought to get the hang of it fairly quickly if you are already familiar with MIG.

Thank's guys, bin doin sum research,although sum opinions here differ? But miller have a 252 they claim will weld up to 12mm on a 1phase 230 volt ?

I think Lorch do to but not at 15amps ,i wait to be corrected though

If you have a look at the specs for the 252, it needs 42A input current
