Mig or Tig

Quick question, I have some aluminium guttering connections to weld up. It's all out of 1.5mm 6061 and any outside welds need to be ground off flush. Some of the pieces have limited access so was thinking mig but as it's thin stuff maybe tig, what do people think? Also what's best to grind flush, flap disc, grinding disc or something else? Thanks in advance

if you have tig I would go with that, if not mig seems the logical option providing you can get the ali wire and argon gas without cancelling out the profit of the job

We have wire and gas anyway, I should have said there is quite a lot to do so tig being slower will match the extra cost of Ali mig wire and gas. We have a pulse mig welder so may use that, but then inverter tig machines with frequency set quite high should motor on pretty quick. If the material was thicker I wouldn't think twice about mig, it's just as it's thin stuff that's why I thought tig.

I'd use the mig pulse, I have both ACDC tig and a pulse set and as stated if you've got loads to do then pulse wins hands down

That's it decided then! Pulse mig is awesome, as much as I love tig welding pulse mig takes away a lot of work from tig.

As you can set the thickness of material on the pulse mig, it takes any difficulty out of the job. I love my pulse set but would love a double pulse machine, just for the finish it gives
