Hi , I'vebeen watching the forum for a while and hoping you guys/gals might me able to help me.
I have a gearbox that i wish to weld up ,the material I want to weld is about 6 - 7 mm thick.
Now the problem I have is I want to weld this with a low budget.
The visual finish of the weld isnt very important , just as long as the welds are strong.
Here are the options I have
I currently have a Butters MIG 211 current spec:
Cooling: Forced Air
Input Voltage: 230V
Power (max): 5kVA
Fuse: 16A
Welding Current Range: 30 - 220A
Output Settings: 12
Welding Voltage Range: 15.5 - 25V
Duty Cycle 35%: 160A
Duty Cycle 60%: 90A
Duty Cycle 100%: 65A
Wire Speed (m/min): 1 - 18
Wire Sizes (mm): 0.6 - 1.0
Dimensions (mm): 750 x 310 x 510
Weight (kg): 48
Mechanical Protection: IP23
Insulation Class: H
Do I use the MIG welder I have with ALLOY spool and arogn or shall I spend Up to £150 on an Ebay TIG to do the job?
I have no experience with TIG ,but was unsure if my MIG would be up to the job.
Help!!
Thanks
