Mig inverter or transformer on thin sheet, what's the difference?

I do exhausts at work using a 300A mig.
I prefer to use it cause i can kinda cold weld with.
You can't do that with an inverter

in what way do you mean? you can certainly weld exhausts with an inverter...you can also set an inverter cold although im not sure you are using cold in the traditional sense

My transformer Migatronic does a good job as it is designed specifically for repairing car bodies. I can't give an example because it is currently out of action.

Migatronic started out in 1970 making welders specifically for "repairing old cars" using CO2.

Does that mean strings of tack welds?

I've never noticed an issue...but then I'm not trying to zap welds in as quickly as possible, but I can quite happily manually stitch/pulse it with my inverter, and the ones I've had before at the same speed I have done with a transformer. I can't see a need for lightning fast speed between tacks personally
