mig gun length

Hi guys, do you know where I might get a 6mtr euro mig gun ? I have a 5mtr gun and at times its just not quite long enough, dont be daft and say move the welder closer, that is not an option

I remember seeing a program about making subs in Barrow. The welders there had back packs withe the wire in iirc and the gas and power were supplied via a hose etc.

I expect Parweld would be happy to make you one as long as you were prepared to accept it, even if you had feeding issues down the line.

ain't that the point of remote wire feeders? So the power source stays in one place and you just drag the feeder and torch closer?

Correct, a remote wire feeder is the answer 8m torch is gonna be a constant source of issue once the liners hit a few hours on it I think. It would certainly need a strong feeder motor and 4 gear feed on the machine itself to continually shove wire round 8m length on anything but a dead straight torch.

I Need glasses then I guess. 6m is still pretty long tho and bound to have feeding issues in short order jim

Too much welding has ruined yer peepers.
6 mtrs is ok if you have a powerful feed system and are diligent about routing the torch smoothly to the job and replace tips and clean/replace liners regularly. It will be fine doing stuff far from the set, the feed issues will start as soon as you work close to the set and the lead gets a few coils or unavoidable bends in it.
Personally I'd take the bottle off the back of the set, chain it to a wall and make the set more mobile so I could run a sensible 4 mtr torch. But that's just me. I Didn't get where I am today by not selling people what they ask for rather than what they need
