Ive spent all day trying to get MIG brazing right with a Kemppi inverter. I came home and got out a Portamig 211 just to see what it was like at brazing. This is 1mm mild steel with a 1mm gap on the lowest voltage setting with 0.8mm silicon bronze wire using argon with 5% C02 cos it's all I've got. It should be pure argon ideally. The middle one was the first attempt (and the best of the three). The first picture is the weld, the second is the underside. This is welding in small stitches to avoid burning through. It's a bit splattery but for a first attempt with no trial pieces I reckon you could do a sound job with a bit more practise. Remember I'm a service engineer not a welder!
