Mig advice please

Help I've been offered a Cebora mig welder 160Amp special car mig 812
Quite cheep is it worth getting

Depends what you're planning on doing with it, what condition it's in and the exact cost.

It's £90 and needs a new liner just using
For body repair work also comes with an empty boc gas bottle where do I get that filled

You can't buy the BOC bottle as its doesn't belong to the person who is selling it, it belongs to BOC and can't be sold on.
I can't find any info about the set online but if it has a low end of 20/30 amps then it'll be fine for body repairs.
New liner cost is negligible (read as less than a tenner)
Not a bad price too, providing it works and is in alright condition.

Very popular once over. Local welding Supplies shop boss uses one at his own home on cars ( it's not a great welding Supplies place btw)
4x4 garage up the road has had one ages

Cebora were imported and distributed by Wilkinson star of Manchester before they went jasic

boc gas bottle

Toms right. Leave the bottle! You don't need the hassle.
Guy is in the wrong offering it for sale and if you took it you'd be in the wrong too. He should give it back to boc and you should tell him to knock another tenner off the welder not to grass him up lol.

Well dived in and picked it up for £90
All in working condition just needs a new
Liner for the torch and have the bottle lol

Brought a hobby weld gas bottle and regulator only problem I'm having
Is when I start welding after a few touches it blows the 13 amp fuse has
Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong

You're probably trying to use it on full power. A 13 amp fuse won't cope with that. Just turn it down a bit. You won't need it on anything like full power for doing car bodywork anyway, you'll more likely need it as low as it can go. Start low anyway and gradually turn it up to get what you want. Looks a good set by the way.

I've never used a gas mig before always used a no gas one should I be able
Hear the gas coming through as when I used it I can't hear anything

If you put the torch near your ear and turn it on then you should hear something. You should also hear the gas solenoid click to release the gas. Have you set the flow at the regulator? If you have turned the bottle on but the regulator is wound out then you still won't get any gas. People often wind the regulator out after use to ease the load on the diaphragm inside it.

And the power was not quite full on I'll have a practice tomorrow as
I haven't welded for at least 10 years I take it as setting one is lowest power

Excellent. Yep, one is lowest. You'll probably be ok up to number four before you start blowing fuses but that will easily weld 3mm steel plate. Have fun!

Not really, if you have a two stage regulator. Flow meters are more important for TIG but if you set the regulator to about 12 l/min you should be fine. Set the flow with the trigger depressed though as it will drop when its in use and go back up again when you stop, so you set it when its flowing. Have you tried it yet? now you have gas and power settings?

Sorry it's been while since I last posted yes I have had a few practice welds with it
And now I'm all set to weld I've got everything set just right fingers crossed and I've had some quite good results much better than the no gas mig I've been using in the past many thanks for all the advice given

I have been having better results with my co2 too compared to the no gas mig too
