Joined and Posted for the first time yesterday, got a reply from Malcom (very useful) but have somehow lost your reply mate??
Trying to find contact details for Weldequip, can anyone help?
Basically I am looking for a small mig up to about £300 rather than scrap, all advise welcome! Was also thinking of second hand if anyone is thinking of upgrading?

Sorry for late reply, been a bit under it today.
Sadly no more reply to my questions...oh well guess I will just get on with it?
Met a guy today who runs a small garage, car repaires etc. He has got a Cebora pocket turbo 130, said he is happy with it and said you canpick one up now for under £300, whats you view on this?, It did look small enough to stick in the corner and not even notice it, but are there better options?

sorry Mick ,your post has gone without replies its probably because of the time and length between replies,for £300 i think you can do a bit better than a cebora 130,also badged snap-on or boc ,secondhand on e-bay these can be picked up for £100 or so ....give weldquip a pm on here he is a clarke dealer ,will beat machine mart ,and will fix you up,got a very good rep on here ,and welcome to the forum Gav

Hi Mick, I have a Cebora 130 - it's the original hobby mig and (I think) still one of the best machines in it's size. It has features usually found on bigger sets like a proper contactor etc.
Mine is around 20 years old now and has given me no trouble from new, it was semi-retired last year when I upgraded to a Portamig but I have kept it because it's easy to move and throw in the truck when needed.
All consumables are available from Weldequip.

I had a Snap-on 130,in truth it was not a bad welder,there's much worse out there,as a second hand purchase i think its ideal,for a brand new price of £300 it compete's with the clarke 150-160 from weldquip and butters 170 here.just noticed out of stock ....another portable which i've read good reports on....i'm sure you will get some more views, good luck Mick....Gav

Thanks guys ,and sorry for late reply...my modem has be playing games all weekend, I shall take the torch to when I get one!
Weldequip has quoted me £329 for a clarke 160tm, but I am still looking around and have always found that bargains comes to he who waits!
I saw a Cebora panther 160 brand new went on ebay for £265, that sounds pretty good, although some of the second hand ones look rough. My welding skills are limited but I shall mostly be using it on Motor cycles and some sheet work up to about 4-5mm. There are so many oppions on here and the top stuff is out of my range at the moment. The Butters 170 looks well made I may give them a call and see when they are back in stock, but did you notice all their range is out of stock? Nice WLA? Steve is it yours?

Hi Mick,
You may have to wait a while for a new Butters machine - they went squit in November, but they are trying to restart.
The WLA in my avatar is what I am aspiring to - Mine is not quite to that standard yet but I am getting there slowly. I will dig it out and take some pics if I can get to it sometime.

I love military stuff, seen a few of these at the war and peace show which is near my place, and is fantastic if you like your military vehicles. Thanks for the advise, maybe Butters will be no more with the way this country in going? Something will turn up, it always does!
