Removed this Carl zeiss metroscope out of scrap bin earlier just to have a look at, what would it have been worth new??

Scary money new. That's shocking that that's been scrapped. See a hilger watts go for about £200 at auction a few weeks back.

Toolmakers or inspection labs only places that would use them.

Yeah weren’t gonna bother trying to sell it as I’m guessing there’s a limited market for them!

I dunno but I know I couldn't have afforded it.

The proper term for the machine would be something along the lines of Universal Optical Measuring Machine. It's a basic CMM from my understanding.

Here's a British made Hilger and Watts, and a Swiss Made Societe Genevoise

Just been having a quick look at what it does for a living. Unless you've got a specific job that needs the level of precision it does take up a lot of room. The problem with lots of kit like that is that modern CMMs have rendered them obsolete. The cost of just getting it calibrated would be eye watering.

I just went with what was written on it! I’ve never seen one before so was quite interesting having a look
