Minilite style wheels can be bought with different PCD and offset to fit many vehicles. GB alloys do a version.

Hello,
just need your helkp on suggesting whether or not Minilite wheels will fit onto a Rover Metro "Kensington" without adaptattion?
Help appreciated
We've had two of those
Rover metro Si auto
Rover metro GTI 16v mpi
Both were rapid. But always had to weld the floor at each corner.
Check under the rubberised underlay.
Do you have the RAVE cd, better than the Haynes manuals.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I always liked the GTI SPI wheels.
Don't know if you know but they were great for fitting the Lotus Elise and MGF engine in. Always fancied a 1.8 metro at Santa pod.

Two sets of wheel PCD used on Metro / Rover 100 - early 4" and late 3.75".
Not sure of change over date but at a guess a Rover Metro could be either (Austin Metro definatley 4" and Rover 100 3.75").
Mini wheels are all 4" PCD.

Didn't some of the early Metro wheels come in an oddball metric size? TD runflat or something?

A lot of this has been covered but.....
Minilite is just a spoke style nowadays (it used to be a specific wheel but there are now so many copies). You can get Minilite style wheels to fit anything from a Mini to a Range-Rover so whether these ones will fit your car or not is going to depend on a hell of a lot more information than "Minilite". Are they genuine Minilites? What have they been fitted to before? Ideally what is the PCD and offset?
The Austin Metro (up till about 1991) used the same 4x4" PCD as the Mini but the offset was a mile out. They got 12", 13" and 315mm diameter wheels at one time or another. Generally 12" or bigger Mini wheels will fit so long as they aren't too wide (the offset difference will make wider wheels that will fit under a Mini's arches stick out).
The Rover Metro (1991 ish onwards) reverted to an older 4x3.75" PCD which I believe was originally a Triumph "standard". Lord knows who thought that was a good idea in the early '90's. Kensington was a trim level for the Rover Metro so i'm guessing that's what yours is.
And now the bit you need to be really careful of. 4x100mm is a very common PCD and there are a lot of Minilite style wheels out there with this PCD. 100mm is very close to 4" and since the 4x100 cars usually have 12mm wheelstuds rather than the 3/8" studs of the Mini/Metro a 4x100 wheel will often seem to fit a Mini/Metro just fine. In reality there is very little contact area on the wheel nuts and it puts a huge strain on the studs and it's only a matter of time before a wheel overtakes you down the road.
The other side of this is that you often find 4x4" wheels that some muppet has attacked with a drill or Dremel to make them fit on a 4x100 car - they then generally try to flog them to some poor unsuspecting mug when they find that they shake their fillings out if they try to drive at more than 5mph.

I fitted 12 inch mini wheels on my 88 metro,
I hope you cut the centring lugs off the drive flanges first.
Pretty much what ibrooks said re when 4x4" went and 4x3.75" came in. Old style Austin Metros will be 4x4" with the A-series 'Mini engine', the newer Rover Metro/100 with the K-series will be 4x3.75".
4x3.75 is an old Triumph fitment, used on TR7s for example, and is also used on MGFs which is just a rear engined Metro in a dress. You see quite a few TR7s with MGF wheels, particularly the Minilite style, as an easy option for 15" wheels on them.
