Metric nipples.!

Hi,
I am trying to source a brass nipple.!
It's named as a 3/8" metric pipe thread.
I have tried fleabay and possess a few 3/8" NPT and 3/8" BSP nipples.
Nobody seems to be familiar with the difference.

Where do I get these things.?
Can anybody point me to a chart which gives dimensions of the different types
to help identify them.?

What are you trying to fit? There is no such thing as 3/8" metric thread so I assume its the description that id vague

Closest metric to 3/8 BSP is M18x1,5
3/8 BSP uses 15,25 mm dril. M18x1,5 is 16,5mm

Supposedly 'Metric' pipe threads are usually BSP as them continentals have adopted our sizes

NPT and BSPT are virtually the same apart from the thread angle 60 vs 55 degrees. if you use ptfe tape it should seal. you'll most likely only see BSP over here

Not quite true as not all the tpi's match so 1/4" BSP is 19 tpi and 1/4" npt is 18 tpi

Is the bore on pipe a metric diameter but the thread is gas/bsp maybe?

All the 10mm Pipe stuff I have is bsp.. I recall 8 and 10mm metric fittings on some villeroy and botched stuff about 15 years ago. .. seem to recall cutting them off and soldering new fittings after waiting 3 months for the supplier to get me the correct parts

Might be worth talking to your local hydraulics place..

Dont mix up pipe end with port end of the fitting.
DIN is just a standard as your BS.
There are DIN std's for ports with BSP threads as well as metric threads.

Plumbing is usually BSP threads in many euro countries. When it comes to hydraulics and pneumatics its a different story. I work in that industry and throughout europe the big OEM's use BSP, metric, Imperial (UNF) straight or tapered you name it.

To the OP, measure port drill diameter and pitch on the fitting and I'll try and help you identify what it is. Pics would help too.

I got some 10mm micro-bore fittings from Screwfix and they were BSP, then I got some from B&Q and they were a different thread. (Not sure what though).
