Metal working gloves

Hi all, can anyone recommend a good pair of gloves and supplier suitable for general metal working (anti cut/slash) gloves that are thin enough to be kept on all the time i.e underneath welding gauntlets when fabricating. Im fed up with metal splinters in my hands all the time and general cuts etc. thx

http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15573&highlight=gloves, the two types i linked to in that thread aren't proper anti slash/cut resistant gloves (there are some on that site, similar to the builders gloves but kevlar instead of cotton) but you've got try quite hard to cut yourself through them.

Use under welding gauntlets... thinner ones would be OK if we're talking high amp work and heavy gauntlets i would think. Backs of them are the weak spot, as said in the thread grinding sparks kill them relatively quickly but at 60 pence a pair...

I use Ringers mechanics gloves when I'm doing sheet metal repairs on the car (of which there are many), grinding and occasionally welding when I'm too lazy to put my gauntlets on.

I've had the pair I'm currently using for about 3 years and they have stood up to a fair amount of use but are looking a bit tatty now. So I picked up a new pair last month, unfortunately these don't have a padded back so they don't offer the same level of protection if the spanner slips and you have a knuckle to bodywork meeting or miss with hammer.

Ringers also do a fabrication glove which are about £30 the pair. I have had a look at them and they look to be pretty good quality. Try googling Nimbus Motorsport as they stock the range.

it's a nightmare trying to find decent gloves to fit small hands..

We use these at work, thin enought to wear under welding gloves, and work with small bolts etc, but ideal to protect against abrasions, scratches etc.

A stall on the local market sells these for £1 a pair and they are grippy and easy to work in but I wouldn't weld in them. Get some tig gloves and you can wear them under gauntlets
