Metal stripper

A while back there was a discussion here about some Dutch manufactured cleaning/stripping discs. I followed a link or picked up a reference to their site which has a video of a small boat hull being stripped back to bare metal. I thought I had bookmarked it in my browser or put a reference in Evernote but it seems I didn't.
I have now stayed up way past my bed time Googling, searching this forum and going back through my browser history but can't find them, can anyone point me in the right direction? Sorry to be a nuisance and thanks to anyone who can help.

Any experience with these, Chunko? I have some 150 yr old gates to strip. The gates themselves can be removed for sandblasting, but the metal 'pillars' cannot.

Poly strip discs will do the job if it's paint on metal. I used some on my scooter panels and they work well, fetched about 6 layers of paint off including old gloss paint.

Thanks Chunko - those are the ones I was looking for. I now remember that you were trying a home built version which is how I found them in the first place. The link is now in Evernote so I'll find them in future.

Note that they are not for use in angle grinders only polishers with a maximum speed of 4000 rpm. At the bottom of their page
"For industrial use, the Perago Multi combines 7 Blaster discs on a hexagonal shaft with M14 thread. The Multi is intended for use in angle polishing machines up to a maximum of 4000 rpm.
N.B. Perago discs should NEVER be used in angle grinders as the very high rotational speeds of this type of machine will cause severe vibration problems and the premature break up of the disc."

I did speak to the importer, he said they are great on flat surfaces but lumps, bumps and obstructions soon knacker the tips. he mentioned large rivets on old boilers being a problem.
How odd, a retailer who is clear about weaknesses in his products.

its called selling gear that is not fit for purpose and having to give refunds otherwise trading standards would pay a visit. by the looks of the wheels it would do u a lot of damage hitting over bumps with it and the strain on the machine using it

Thanks, I also spoke to them about pricing, as it is not on their site. Sounds like they are not what I need. Last time I used a Roto-Stripper on some gates it didn't last very long.

I LOVE those stripping disks! They don't last as long in an angle grinder; I use large ones in my polisher and they are extremely efficient. They are the mustard when it comes to flat surfaces and it took about an hour to remove quite a few layers of paint of my car's roof ready for new primer & paint.

However, they don't last long if you let the leading edge (imagine the clockwise travel of the disk surface) catch a sharp edge. With a little thought and practice, you get good at only letting the trailing edge travel off the edge of a panel so the disk lasts for ages and becomes quite cost-effective. Considerably better than stripper (unless your project has nooks and crannies) since there's no harsh chemicals and less cleanup than open-air sandblasting.
